The shrill shrieks of the children split through the air,
They scream and shout and their hearts bare,
What a delight it is to see,
Them indulge in fun and frolic and completely carefree,
I wish I was a child again,
Dashing across the hockey flat again,
Or racing to the basketball flat,
To cheer our friends in the interschool combat,
Did you ever play Kicking the Can as a child?
It was an awesome game about which we were wild,
Then there was Dog and the Bone
Defenders, Queen – games I’m sure to kids these days unknown,
But what fun they used to be,
What days they used to be,
Oh I wish I was a child again,
Dashing across the bread and butter flat again!
